Live At Troon

Troon promises to be a focus for music fans over 3-5 September 2010, as it hosts its first music festival, Live@Troon.

The weekend festival, which will run annually, has two main aims: to promote Troon as a tourist destination and to spotlight the town as a music venue. Our ambition is that the community-based event promotes and encourages the involvement of all ages in all forms of music. We are also especially keen that it provides a platform for young local bands to showcase their talents.

Friday night of the event will see a host of live music throughout the town's pubs and clubs. There will also be a main concert featuring a wide range of music within the acclaimed acoustic setting of Portland Church.

Saturday afternoon will have workshops and street performers around the town. In the evening there will be a variety of music to cater for all tastes at a number of the town's venues. To firmly establish the event in the musical calendar, the Concert Hall will feature the festival's headline act. Details to follow in early course.

The festival will ease its way to a close on Sunday with jazz sessions.

Live@Troon will be run as a charity for the benefit of the residents of Troon and its environs. Any surplus from running the event will be used to support Ayrshire’s young musical talent.
